Cassina Maralunga Sofa 40
Maralunga is Cassina's iconic sofa, designed in 1973 by Vico Magistretti. A blend of comfort, reassuring forms, and avant-garde design, Maralunga stands out for its ability to adjust the backrest, a pioneer for its time. A simple bicycle chain inserted into the frame allows the height of the headrest to be adjusted from high to low: a mechanism proudly patented by Cassina.
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Maralunga becomes Maralunga 40 with a revamped version, featuring fabric or leather upholstery with distinctive stitching along the perimeter to make it even more modern and contemporary. A removable cover option is also available for the fabric version (Maralunga 40-S). In 2024, a further restyling for greater comfort was introduced. Thanks to in-depth research conducted in collaboration with the Magistretti Foundation, the internal mechanism has been enhanced to offer a 7° greater tilt of the backrest.
