Cassina Luisa Chair

Luisa is an armchair that was created after fifteen years of research by Franco Albini, who focused on designing an archetypal chair. Albini's ambition was to create an ideal model capable of expressing “substance in form” by increasing the thickness of the individual wooden elements at the joints between the parts. Various revisions led to the final version of the Luisa chair winning the Compasso D'Oro award in 1955. The structure represents a formal synthesis in which the seat and backrest consist of two geometric elements suspended on a thin wooden structure with trestle sides. Luisa is an iconic chair, reissued by Cassina as a world exclusive thanks to its extraordinary woodworking skills. Upholstery available in fabric or leather.
