Albero is the famous bookcase designed in 1960 by Gianfranco Frattini for Poltrona Frau. Albero from the beginning was designed for the center of the room: an ante-litteram design, considering that any bookcase was instead intended to be installed on the wall. Frattini was a forerunner of a trend that went mainstream in the 1960s, namely floor-to-ceiling furniture systems. Albero, in addition to standing out for its disruptive aesthetics, is appreciated for the complex cabinet work it conceals. A functional sculpture in Canaletto walnut consisting of two toothed pillars, with special rack interlocking, and four uprights with regular-pitch drilling that allows for the assembly of the 12 shelves. The Albero bookcase rotates 360° with respect to its axis.
