Fumoir by Poltrona Frau is the series of armchairs and sofas that went into production in 1929 at the behest of Savina Pisati Frau, a few years after the death of Renzo Frau. A successful collection, still central to the brand's catalog, it is characterized by the absence of the cushion superimposed on the seat and by the volumetric resizing that makes the seats transverse in use. Fumoir includes brass front wheels and is distinguished by the lozenge stitching of the backrest and leather-covered buttons. Fumoir's inspiration comes from typical eighteenth-century low-backed cockpit armchairs, ideal for maintaining an upright position around a table or in a lounge area.
