Cassina 527 Mexique Table

The Mexique series of tables and coffee tables by Cassina, designed by Charlotte Perriand in the late 1940s and completed in 1952 for the student rooms of the Maison du Mexique at the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris, is part of the en forme libre table collection. The structure, designed to take up as little space as possible, allowed several pieces to be placed side by side to create larger, more regular compositions. In 1952, Perriand replaced the wooden legs with triangular-section legs in folded sheet metal. In 1956, a low version was created for the Galerie Steph Simon in Paris. The thick wooden top, available in solid wood or glossy or matte lacquer, conveys remarkable beauty, while the edges reveal a profile that is functional to the shape and size of the hand. In 2018, two new dining table variants were added, allowing for 5 or 6 diners. New finishes have also been introduced, further enhancing the tables' combinability and functionality.
