The Wooden Dolls by Vitra were born from the researches of Alexander Girard, one of the leading figures of post-war American design. Being fascinated by the folk art of South America, Asia and East Europe, Girard created these little wood dolls as a personal collection for his own house in Santa Fe. From those originals, now preserved inside of Vitra Design Museum, the Wooden Dolls have been made into an industrial product available to everybody. Partially little wood sculptures, partially toys, the Wooden Dolls are design accessories. It is impossible not to love them.
